Updated News Interface
« on: 18 Nov 2002, 22:20:36 »
We have redesigned the main news page, and will implement this new version this afternoon.

For now, the new news page is here:

http://www.ofpec.com/index_new2.php

The major change is the display of news text as well as title, and the inclusion of screenshots.

Posting news is really easy. I'll add a link from the main page right to it this afternoon. Just go intelligence depot and then click on submit news.

You can upload a screenshot if you wish.

Once you submit, our News Man Butch0r will clear your item from the pending list and whalla - your news is on the main page.

So, what are you waiting for? SUBMIT NEWS! ;D

Future upgrades (within the next week) include a news sort from the main page, integration into preferences (display only the types of news that you are interested in), integration into the actual forum (news titles and author displayed from the forum index if you select it in your preferences).

Any suggestions are welcome!

regards

snYpir :-*

Good works looks much better like that, but if you are updating the page you might want to update this

"Our Mission: To make this site the central repository for all OFP Editing related information, from scripts to entire tutorials. As well as providing a friendly, informative Community Feel via the Forums, and allowing the OFP Editing Community to congregate under one cohesive banner of professionalism and friendliness. ."

It has 2 full stops at the end.

those 85x85 images won't do the job  ::) ...might as well screw pic's then. Can't see sh|t

I say minimum 140x170 pixels (or was it 170x140?) ...or no pic's at all.  :P :)

Plz get me here - the point in showing an image is to let ppl SEE  :o oy?!  :D
Now, that ain't gonna happen w/ a bloody 85x85 screenshot. And most pic's WILL be screenies.

Just ma own thoughts on this issue  :afro:

[mod]: ok, 170 x 130 p'haps but neah smaller!!!! it's for screenshots.

I'm not saying it sucks... because it doesn't... It's good...

But maybe it should be more clearer?

Like draw a thin line under each post. Underline poster and topic.

That sorts of things  :D

ps. I agree with Tomb, as always, he's right. It's one of lifes simple facts that pictures are ment to show things. Also one of lifes simple facts is bandwidh issues, but if possible, please make them a bit bigger or I'll have to find myself new glasses  :hmm: :wow:

All changes have been made.

At the moment screenshots are a fixed thumbnail size, efforts are being made to made them a percentage smaller to preserve the shape of the image.

Cheers for the feedback!

I agree that images are here to show something, BUT the role of thumbnails is to give a little idea on what the image represent without displaying the whole pic, if you want to see the full size picture just click on the thumbnail and you will get a big pic. We are doing thumbnail to save space on page, bandwith and to have a homogeneous way to display images on the news page.

Like the new news interface.

HOWEVER...

Intel depot no longer works.  :(
 ??? ??? ???
Fullstop. I can get all the different categories but not any of the stories. Also, I clicked on "... view item for full description ..." and got a blank page.
What Gives?
