Sniper/Spotter Training Module
« on: 19 Oct 2002, 15:43:23 »
Hey guy's,
Back again to let you know about the next training module, at the moment we're still working on the Pilot Training Module and will be looking for beta tester's for the C Class Licence shortly.
Here though, I've talking about our idea for a Sniper/Spotter Training program.
Just like in the PTM, we'll be training you from the ground up, in three different classes. We're also hoping to have the addition of spotter training, although not a lot is required to be one in OFP, we feel it would add a great depth of realism. As well as some trained protection. We'll be looking to train you as a unseen killer, quiet, unseen, merciless. You'll learn how to use different the different weapons sniper's use, namely their long range rifles. You'll be trained at long range shooting, hitting a moving target, skills and methods to help you get out alive, camoflauge & movement, as well as anything else we can think of to give you the edge in a fight.

Hmm.... I had the ultimate sniper tactics post in a thread similar to this.. and now that i look.. i guess it must have been in the old forums...  :P

If you want the real deal... I'll dig up "TheManual" ;D

WOW... you just gave me a great idea... *coming soon, Battlefield tactics by Kaliyuga webpage ;)*

anyways.. back on topic.. ;D
As of August 1994 per the Department of the Army (U.S.)

The criteria are as follows..

Male.
PFC to SFC (waiverable for MSG and above).
Active duty or ARNG and USAR.
Good performance record.
No history of alcohol or drug abuse.
A volunteer (with commander recommendation).
Vision of 20/20 or correctable to 20/20.
No record of disciplinary action.
Expert marksman with M16A1 or M16A2 rifle.
Minimum of one-year retrainability.
Career management field 11.
Pass APFT (70 percent, each event).

Also... Here are the Skills that must be learned.. I'm sure this will help design some good tests

A sniper's duties require a wide variety of skills. He must learn the following:

Ballistics.
Ammunition types and capabilities.
Adjustment of optical devices.
Radio operation and procedures.
Observation and adjustment of mortar and artillery fire.
Land navigation skills.
Military intelligence collecting and reporting.
Identification of threat uniforms and equipment.

 Anyways.. hope this helps...
If you need more info you can IM me.. or look out for my new page soon ;D

This concept is somewhat similar to the mission Sniper Range, by The Omega, available from The FAQ's MOM page.

Pity The Omega didn't produce the whole series that was planned at the time.

way way ahead of you mate

and as a bit of an update, we're working on both types of M40 and we've already decided on one of the missions for an online test. It's just like for the Australian Sniper Training. You'll be given a place to go to, and a time to be there, you also have to make a shot from this area and destroy your mark. THe only catch is that your mark is on a very very high seat on top of a big ladder and pole, looking for you in this area with binoc's, if your spotted, you fail, any thoughts on that guy's?
