Hey guy's,
Back again to let you know about the next training module, at the moment we're still working on the Pilot Training Module and will be looking for beta tester's for the C Class Licence shortly.
Here though, I've talking about our idea for a Sniper/Spotter Training program.
Just like in the PTM, we'll be training you from the ground up, in three different classes. We're also hoping to have the addition of spotter training, although not a lot is required to be one in OFP, we feel it would add a great depth of realism. As well as some trained protection. We'll be looking to train you as a unseen killer, quiet, unseen, merciless. You'll learn how to use different the different weapons sniper's use, namely their long range rifles. You'll be trained at long range shooting, hitting a moving target, skills and methods to help you get out alive, camoflauge & movement, as well as anything else we can think of to give you the edge in a fight.

Hmm.... I had the ultimate sniper tactics post in a thread similar to this.. and now that i look.. i guess it must have been in the old forums... :P
If you want the real deal... I'll dig up "TheManual" ;D
WOW... you just gave me a great idea... *coming soon, Battlefield tactics by Kaliyuga webpage ;)*
anyways.. back on topic.. ;D
As of August 1994 per the Department of the Army (U.S.)
The criteria are as follows..
Male.
PFC to SFC (waiverable for MSG and above).
Active duty or ARNG and USAR.
Good performance record.
No history of alcohol or drug abuse.
A volunteer (with commander recommendation).
Vision of 20/20 or correctable to 20/20.
No record of disciplinary action.
Expert marksman with M16A1 or M16A2 rifle.
Minimum of one-year retrainability.
Career management field 11.
Pass APFT (70 percent, each event).
Also... Here are the Skills that must be learned.. I'm sure this will help design some good tests
A sniper's duties require a wide variety of skills. He must learn the following:
Ballistics.
Ammunition types and capabilities.
Adjustment of optical devices.
Radio operation and procedures.
Observation and adjustment of mortar and artillery fire.
Land navigation skills.
Military intelligence collecting and reporting.
Identification of threat uniforms and equipment.
Anyways.. hope this helps...
If you need more info you can IM me.. or look out for my new page soon ;D

didnt a guy name rapture_16 have this same kind of idea about having some of the ofp editors make a sniper school?
what ever happen to that proj?????
-
dunno - but with the help of Sefe i have nearly finished a random target range where targets pop up at random from behind sand bags... soon as i get it all working and tested i'll pst the script.

This concept is somewhat similar to the mission Sniper Range, by The Omega, available from The FAQ's (http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/) MOM page.
Pity The Omega didn't produce the whole series that was planned at the time.

At the fridge ??? ;D
Back on topic people please, kitchen stuff ain't allowed in our forum ;)
-
yea that idea sounds cool and if theres spotter training make a spotting scope as an item similar to binoclars
-
way way ahead of you mate
and as a bit of an update, we're working on both types of M40 and we've already decided on one of the missions for an online test. It's just like for the Australian Sniper Training. You'll be given a place to go to, and a time to be there, you also have to make a shot from this area and destroy your mark. THe only catch is that your mark is on a very very high seat on top of a big ladder and pole, looking for you in this area with binoc's, if your spotted, you fail, any thoughts on that guy's?
-
any thoughts on that guy's?
Yes. Stop yapping and get to work! ;)
-
already are mate.
be nice, at the moment it's only me that controls who get's this program and who doesn't
-
wow ok thats cool i didnt think any 1 thought of that o well my bad.....
r u talking bout the M40a1 and a3 because that would be cool and also a M24 with a bipod and proper textures actually do u kno where i can find 1 if theres 1 around
-
i got an m24 out of the addon depot
-
yea i tried that 1 and its sorta got that barrel flash thingand the textures are bad and its not as M24ish as i would like. there needs to be 1 with a bipod ;D

How bout someone make a PSG1 or a M82A1 with a nice zoomable scope, and pretty stripes...Also, I think Israeli snipers are pretty cool. Maybe make a campaign about that, go through training, into the field, etc.

Don't know if the scope is zoomable.

Note the camo'd PSG is silenced.
You can download it from Anmac's site (http://ofp.alfware.com.au/).

Chances are that such is the stuff that the Lost Brother mod (http://lostbrothers.ofpmatch.com/) will produce.
-
well how is this project going?
-
wow, those look awesome, hope the weapons are decent as a sniper rifle though, as in accurate for once!!!
thank's for the heas up

Hey thanks a lot Avon Lady! Your the greatest! I like you FAQ, too. I'd thought the Lost Brothers mod was dead...oh well, even though I'm an American, I think the IDF is awesome. Thanks again.

I tried the PGS1 out in Anmac's Antipathy 1.1 mission.
One shot, one kill. I was shooting from about 500-600m away and 100 meters up, on a mountainside. The AI enemy dropped like flies. The AI had no idea from which direction they were being fired upon. Uses the M21's adjustable scope.
-
It's not a trainer mission but i just reviewed and uploaded mision "Spetznatz Sniper Team", by Sergeant Barnes, on the MOM page at The FAQ (http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/).
-
ok call me an idiot everyone does but has anyone even made spotter addons?
-
um i think there is one that uses the original sniper model in the addons depot
