Changes from 2.0 are:

- changed: muzzle flash of suppressed versions is now a lot smaller

- added: a basic M4A1 in desert camo ("FLPM4A1Desert", standard ammo) - for testing purpouses!

Just to make one thing clear,
in Black Hawk Down Delta Force don't just use the M16 Carbines and Car 15s, they used a WIDE range of Colt made Carbines.

XM-177E1
XM-177E2
Car 15
M16A2 Carbine
and the M4A1!!!!

2 or 3 Delta Force may had been carrying the M4A1, I think "Hoot" uses one. Remember the M4A1 Carbine was released in 1993.

And one other thing, get Black Hawk Down on DVD it is ******* amazing!

The Definative Resource on the variants of the SPECOPS M4...

http://www4.aixgaming.com/opend/album18

I was really impressed with the M4 Special Purpose/Marksman Rifle... I've read that it has made 600m headshots in Afghanistan. The Armalite AR-10 SPR has a 7.62NATO version...

And American Firearms produces an AR-15 modified to accept .50AE rounds, ten to a mag! Known as the AR-50AE, it has nearly the same knockdown punch as a .50 BMG!
A silencer makes it perfect for long range sentry removal...

Remember - the M4A1 is a CAR15 with a few modifications.  The civvie CAR15 was used in Vietnam "unofficially" and finally in '93 the Army adopted it as a standard weapon (not standard issue though) with some modifications, then known as the M4.  You can buy CAR15's on the open market.

One of the members of the Gordon/Shughart team (RIP guys :'() carried an M14 rifle fitted with a custom scope (dunno if it was an M21 or just a scoped -14...in the book they said M14), while the other carried a suppressed M4A1.  The suppressor cut down on recoil, making it a little more accurate.

The XM177 family is better known as the Colt Commando.  This originally was a civillian made rifle too.

The M16A2 is the full-sized rifle carried by regular infantry, not a carbine.  Delta doesn't use it often, if ever.

I'd Imagine Delta uses what ever weapon is best for their mission, if it a Recon Deep in Enemy territory they might use an AK47 or a suppresed M4 or MP5, if it's an assault that may require some Sniping then they would use an M21 or a PSG1. The Delta Boys get their weapons Custom made, based on what they specialize in or are comfortable with, since Shughart and Gordon (RIP) were both Snipers they had their guns set up for that type of thing.

There is a M16 Carbine version. It's barrel and foregrip is shortened but not the stock. It is NOT an SR15 if people are thinking that.
Also it was shughart which had an M21/M14, and Gordon who had the sileced Carbine.

About what carbines they did use, the XM177E1 has a very short barrel. The one in OFP.
The XM177E2 has a larger flashhider.
The CAR15 is the VERY compact carbine, which was used in Vietnam war, and replaced by the XM because the CAR15 was too inaccurate.
The M16 Carbine version I've gone over.
The M4A1 you can tell apart from it's look alikes by the difference in the shape of the muzzle and barrel.

Well whatever it is i would still kill for Gordon's gun   .

Ahem...
I don't want to come off as a complete geezer here... but some respect is in order. These men were Congressional Medal of Honor Winners, and gave their lives...
I understand what you meant mattmayhem. If that's what Sgt. Gordon carried on the mission, I thought it was a badass weapon too, but it came off a little coarse. I'm sure he would've killed for it too, and probably was killed doing just that.
No Big deal, just my two cents.
