Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising support?
« on: 05 May 2012, 15:47:06 »
Hello,

I do realise that OFP:DR is shit compared to OFP : CW, but it's still fun and challenging.
What bothers me is that mission editor is a lot harder and different, therefor i am stuck in mission editor.

I wonder, maybe OFPEC could add support to OFP:DR and revive this dead game?

What h- is pointing out is that DR and its sequel (whatever it was called) are not made by BIS, the people who made the original CWC and its actual sequels (the Arma series), and in fact uses a completely different engine and editing...language? I have no idea, all I know is that it's entirely different.

So no, we have no support for Codemaster's desecration of the OFP name, nor do we plan on adding any - if for no other reason than the fact that it's not even remotely the same game.

(this post brought to you by: people still upset by Codemasters attempting to cash in on a classic they had nothing to do with except publish)

Wolfrug out.

Yes Wolfrug, i know what you mean. Im not happy with that too. Operation Flashpoint title should have been given away to Bohemia, instead of ruining it and making into a COD -like  game.

Still, it wasnt that bad. I played campaign and it was HORRIBLE, but multiplayer was quite fun and challenging, editor had many possibilities too, but it uses different coding language, therefor i cannot help anywhere on how to use it.

Ok, let's say that it wasn't as bad as the next one..  ::)

Well that editor is very very limited compared to BIS, basically you can't do anything else than just fighting missions, you can't even do cutscenes ffs, the scripting language has like a fraction of the functionality BIS sqs/sqf has, the rediculously small unit limit, the list goes on. Dunno why they even bothered to include the mission editor.

I think their command reference is in the games help files or something.

And if you seriously want to waste your time with that game I suggest you visit this place

I tried playing and editing it once. Playing was... yeah, you experienced it yourself, so no need for further words. The editor was very limited, as far as I've seen. And it uses some code called lua. I don't even know what to say about lua, it's just uncool. I tried getting into it a bit, but it's not worth it - there are about 10% of OFP/CWC's and the Arma series' possibilities...
