p3d model help
« on: 05 Nov 2010, 17:03:33 »
Hi,
Apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I have been given a p3d model that I need to convert to an stl or some other polygonal model format, I searched the forum and saw the reco to use Oxygen Lite, but when I launch it, I get an error about "Unable to load external viewer" and it cannot load my p3d file?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Do you have the game installed?
Which game?
Which version of O2 are you using?

Hi, no game, I don't even know what is on the file.
Just a lowly CAD operator given a task:)

The version of 02 is the one off the addons depot download page, the app doesn't actually say what version it is that I could see.

Thanks!

If you dont have the game installed the tools wont work.
The obvious aim is to stop people who dont own the game pinching models for no good reason except to probably rip someone hard earned works for their own or for some other gain.

As you can guess, BIS and addon makers of this game community very much dislike people who do that.
Apart from that, its probably breaching various copyrights.
...... if thats not what your doing, then we can keep going.

I posed the question back to the person who asked me to do this (I'm just a CAD guys) and they suggested it was a customers part they (A web designer) were given. At any rate, they told me they would sort it out with their customer.

Thanks for your time.

OK.
But it sounds very much like commercial piracy going on in the background there ;)
