"SaveGame" trigger and hint

I'm trying to put a savegame into a mission by making a trigger, synchronised with a "Get Out" of helo waypoint.  I set it to "Switch", used "SaveGame" (no quotes) in the activation field and gave it a text effect message to test it.  It doesn't appear to work.  Sorry, as always, for the novice question, but what am I doing wrong here?

Finally, if anyone could guide me to a script for a "Game Saved" hint message (and advise how to insert it with the savegame trigger) I'd appreciate it, as a hint message as it occurs in stock missions, or any hint message format, will look better than a white text message on the screen.

Hi there!

I would suggest making it a simple area-trigger instead - for instance surrounding the objective are in a circle. Group (F2) it to the player, and make sure it's set to "Activated By: Vehicle Present". Now, once the player enters the trigger's area, the "On Activation" will occur (leave the Condition as 'this').

For the hint, simply use hint. So the command line would be:

saveGame; hint "Game saved!";
