Turrets on planes.
« on: 13 Jul 2008, 18:25:14 »
Anybody know how to put a turret on a plane.

Thinking of taking an old hercules and putting an M134, a 30mm cannon, and a 105mm howitzer on its side to make it a Spectre.

Any way to do this?

Thanx for the replies as always.

hi laggy Luke, More then likely someone has tried to do it. I would like to see it done, its such a unique piece of air craft. But the 105mm howitzer is on the inside of the plane. I think that's way no one has made one yet.

There's been some discussion regarding this over at the BIS forums, and I believe RKSL "sort of" managed to solve the problem in a manner of speaking, I believe through scripting.

Here's the discussion about Fixed wing turrets and here's the scripted solution as presented by RKSL : (page 55 of the old RKSL thread, about the 4th post of the page) NEWS UPDATE: Fixed Wing Turret and Laser Designation System.

I suggest you read through that thread a little, and then maybe PM the people in question and see if they can help you out.

Basically though, I believe that fixed-wing turrets (aka Cobra) are impossible without workarounds, scripting, and other shiznits. But hey - whenever was that a problem for us OFP/ArmA addon makers  :D

Good luck!

Wolfrung,

Already checked out RKSL,

looked all around for info/DL, and nothin' doin'.

How the heck they would script it, I have no idea,

and I seriously doubt they'd share,

so if you have any idea how, I'd gladly like to know.

Thanx for the replies, as always.

EDIT: Schuler, why did you call me laggy?

Thanx Schuler.

EMSI did a UAV type "camera" scripting mod, search on the BIS forums or bigger ArmA news sites for it.
You may be able to attach a gun to it and simulate gunfire.

Gnat,

I have EMSI's UAV.

Wouldn't know how to do that.  :dunno:

Noob question alert! Wouldn't I want actual gunfire, not simulated gunfire?

Thanx for the replies, as always.

Sorry, beyond me for detail, I think thats cutting edge code, hence why RKSL team are still battling with it.
