Asymmetry in Addon Topic Names

Why is it that for ArmA the topic is :
ArmA - Addons & Mods Discussion
Questions and discussion about ArmA addons & mods

and for OFP it is :
OFP - Addons & Mods General
Questions and discussion about OFP addon editing

This asymmetry disturbs me.

It's not like they have any typos or need to follow format rules.
I believe it isn't a big deal as the meaning is clear and understandable to the average user.

Forums arrangement was done a while ago, I didn't  like the change, but I am not one for change anyways , I am ok with it now, and I like it now ,,
I hate it when the wife rearranges the living room.
Relation as a whole, but yet balanced, I think the staff has some more stuff coming with addons Arma and so on.
I would not like to have their job,,,,,,,,,,
its not one size fits all

The importance is in the symmetry of order within the board. Within the board the subtopics should have the same order for ArmA as for OFP. Should be:

ArmA - Addons & Mods Beta Testing
ArmA - Addons & Mods Discussion
OFP - Addons & Mods Beta Testing
OFP - Addons & Mods General

which is the structure for all other boards. For example:

ArmA Missions Beta Testing & Submission
ArmA Missions Discussion
OFP Missions Beta Testing & Submission
OFP Missions Discussion

Hmm. Seems to me the mission board topics are all missing a hyphen in their titles when compared to other boards!

I just don't know what to say

Anyway: there will be plenty more ArmA-related addon boards soon enough, which means that the possible venues of discussion are spread out more. Thus a board titled "discussion" fits into the same slot as the Mission Discussion board - it's not a place to ask for general editing help.

Whereas the OFP board, titled General, will have to do for most of the widely separated OFP-editing related topics for now, including "general discussion". A bit like we don't have separate editing boards for "SQF scripting" and "trigger editing" or whatever, everything is discussed in either General or Advanced (or Multiplayer...).

So really, there is a grand scheme and a masterplan for everything, down to the tiniest little assymetrical nomenclature of the boards! Fear not, we the OFPEC-staff overlords Know Best (TM).

(Yes, I invented all of this as I went along - my best guess it's just some weird clerical error...  )

The reason to have assymmetric names was very old-skoolish: I was told that back in the stoneage some incarnation of this forum went tits-up due to some very similarly named boards..
I found that pretty weird and very unlikely occurrance but went along with the notion that 'better safe than sorry'.

As for the OFP Addons & Mods general, it holds everything related to OFP addon making other than beta testing (which is handled by the beta thread of course), hence the term 'general'.
The OFP related boards were decided to be whacked together when ArmA came out as it was commonly shared feeling that those boards would be getting less and less activity.

And as Wolfrug already said ArmA A&D discussion is just a peak of an iceberg, for now it acts similarly to the OFP A&D general but will later on be separated into several separate boards.


I hope there's no disturbance in Mr.Peanut anymore
