Need help with making a sound addon
« on: 13 Apr 2007, 13:37:48 »
Hi!

IÂ've struggled with replacing few ArmA sounds with my own ones for few days now. So I could use some help.

HereÂ's what IÂ've tried:

1st method

- Unpacked the AK74_1_SS.wss file from weapons.pbo
- decoded it to .wav to see itÂ's bitrate etc.
- encoded the new AK74_1_SS.wss to .wss
- Packed the new file to a NewSound.pbo using filepath Weapons\Data\Sound
- Made a new folder to ArmA Folder called NewSounds, inside it made the AddOns and put the .pbo in it
- Ran the game using modified shortcut with -mod=NewSounds

Result: Error message about missing weapons/Stock sound on the AK74

2nd method

- Unpacked the whole Weapons.pbo
- Replaced the old AK74_1_SS.wss sound with my new one
- Packed everything back to Weapons.pbo
- Replaced the old weapons.pbo in the default AddOns folder

Result: Stock AK74 sound still present

What I am doing wrong?  :weeping:

Thank you in advance!

Do not double post.

If your post is the last one in a thread (or the only one) and you have something to add, edit your post instead.
Unless about 2-3 days has passed after the post was initially posted.
