Registration gave me a real problem here unfortunately, hence why I have such a stupid username.

I usually go by Duke but I understand if it's taken. I've tried -Duke- which the registration process won't allow for - which kinda sux but I understand if your stuck with it.

I did however try other usernames such as alterego, d00k, sirapnek, dOOk, Dwoing and futsbuzle to no avail as they are all taken. All in all, I think I tried close to 15 or more nix before I got stuck with n00bem lol.

Anyway, if all the above are taken then I'll need some help removing my foot from my mouth.

Ken.

Whilst Duke is indeed taken, alterego is not.

There is an alterego45, but not an alterego.

All the other names you mentioned are also free.

That's what I thought.

I wonder why the site kept on telling me they were already taken?

You're probably right, there's something fishy going on, I just can't put my finger on it.

I tried registering alterego, but at first try I got "already exists, try again". I then did a few tests regarding numeric characters in username and/or in displayname, but they all went as they should. After that retried registering alterego and it went fine too.

There might be some complications because the memberbase is imported from YaBB SE forum and if I remember correctly it didn't have Name and Username fields separate.. or something like that. This may cause problems. I'll look into it more, but for the time being I'm not ready to tell the 14 thousand or so members, who've registered to YaBB SE, to register again to our new forum.  :)

What is up with this |nbsp; bug? Every time you edit a post it replaces spaces at the beginning of a line with this illegitimate personisation of a nonbreaking space...

Hey

I'm not sure if it's just me but is some of the symbols on the site loading as funny symbols?

For example, Mr.Peanut's last post has this as the last line :
Quote
  like this....

The Pound Sterling sign also appears weird as well.
Quote
£

I've tested this in Firefox 2.0.0.3 and IE 7 and both give me the same results. I'm not sure if it's Vista Home Premium here on my laptop. I can't remember if my computer has this problem, which is XP Home though. My PC has the exact problem aswell as my laptop.

I've seen similar bugs with my own websites, ended up being the MYSQL language that the data was stored in. I doubt that has anything to do with it though.

Cheers
Jason

there has indeed been a change in character encoding from iso to utf. this happened before the most recent move. thus some posts will sport odd characters. the newest content should all be fine. not something to worry about.

your sig has been fixed. any other sigs/personal texts that have odd characters in them, just edit them out manually.

The show new replies to your posts link in the upper left does not work for me. It takes me to that section but shows that there havent been any new replies, even if there have been.

Just found out I have a Personal Messaging problem.

Can't seem to send any PM or preview one I am writing
Tried to send one, checked the option of saving one in sent box, nothing there and page didn't even change...same happens if I don't check that option.

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.4 & Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.18.184.
Even with the firewall off it doesn't work.

PS: If it did work and it's just some problem in my browser... sorry bedges and macguba for the flood :P

EDIT: PM problem solved. Firewall configuration problem ;)

there was a small adjustment to the frontpage layout this morning (adding a right-hand column) which should display fine now in both IEx and MFx.

you'll probably have to either clear the cache, or simply hold [ctrl]+[shift] and refresh.
