is there a guide on how to make a good post ie

how to include a picture , the diference between hyperlinks and ftp links  etc .

No, there isn't.   I think if you dig into the help function you'll find something, but the best way is to experiment.    Make up a dummy post, play around with it then hit 'Preview' to see what it looks like.     Obviously don't hit 'Post' .....

Anyway the most important thing is the content, not the presentation.   ;)
