Missions Depot relaunched!
« on: 03 Sep 2006, 13:50:45 »
We are delighted to report that the Missions Depot has been relaunched.   For the time being it exists as a forum board.   This is not ideal, but we thought it was better to have this than have nothing while we built a new Missions Depot.  (Which is harder than it sounds.)

At present we are still uploading recovered missions.    In the future we will be accepting new missions for review.   We still have to work out the final details, but the principles have been established:  the mission submission procedure will be integrated with the beta testing board.   No mission will be accepted for review unless it has already been through public beta testing.   In practice, this means that the first stage of getting a mission reviewed will be to submit it to the Beta testing board.   Read the stickies at the top of that board first!

Beta testing is important because about half of the missions submitted to the old Missions Depot had serious problems:  many were non-functional.   This wasted a great deal of reviewer time and energy.   More beta testing will lead to much better missions and a smoother and quicker review process.

We will be looking for more mission reviewers.   If you're interested, start by becoming a regular tester on the beta board.
