Technical problems
« on: 26 Nov 2005, 22:03:47 »
Beofre you lock this i havent got a problem well i do but im nt here to talk about it

Im just wondering why doesnt OFPEC have a moderate kind of Technical questions board, by moderate i dont mean like create a new board for it but have one of the other boards i was thinking of the Addons discussion allow technical problems not be off topic since many questions ive seen usually have an error related to addons

so im just wondering why OFPEC doesnt allow it ?

Sure OFPEC is an editing site not a technical site but its not like the posts are going to get overtaken by the technical questions
also state something like
"Beofre posting about technical options please check the BI forums first since they are more likely to understand your problem but if you dont get an answer at the BI forums then you may feel free to post here"

something like that

i just thougt it would be a nice idea of course i dont mind if iys not used or if you think its a load of crap
but thats what this board is for what you would like to see

Every year or so this question comes up, just like the question about an off-topic board or free beer for the staff.

I could go on listing numerous reasons why OFPEC doesn't allow technical discussion, but the main reasons are the two you must already know.

1. By extreme focusing OFPEC can bring you the best in it's area. It's a hard thing to do, but drawing very strict lines of focus is what makes OFPEC so great.

2. Who's more better to offer tect support than BIS, the developer of the game. They have much more traffic on their forums than OFPEC does, so it's only natural and helpful to direct tech questions to BIS.

It's not a load of crap. It's a very valid opinion and request. However, I think all the OFPEC admins agree with me that tech support is best left to the BIS forums.

Nothing to lock, it's a perfectly valid Comment on OFPEC.

Artak is right:  not only does OFPEC specialise in other areas, even if we tried to specialise in technical support we still wouldn't be as good as the official forums.   The BIS guys are very good about posting there (when something new or interesting comes up) and they are not going to duplicate that here.

We could make it more obvious though.   I'll look into that.

Right, in response to customer demand .... a new sticky

Comments and questions may be made in this thread, since the sticky is locked.
