Recording Movies
« on: 25 Mar 2005, 17:50:55 »
Hi  ;D

I am just wondering what different easy ways there are to record movies in OFP (without spending money). I am sure its possible but I don't know where to start looking. Plus I have watched MOD advertisement videos and they look like there done with some kind of tool that is already in OFP. Can some one help me?  ???

There is a program called "CamStudio". It is Freeware

Thanx silencer, anymore tips please.

I would also like something that doesn't lag the game so you don't get a jumpy recording.

Have a look at the VME MOD Videos at the below website (its the 3.36 MB download and not the great huge one). Anyway its recorded as if the player is actually the camera? This looks interesting, any info on this recording method?

Fraps. It doesn't record sound, but it simply films whatever's onscreen. http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?sekce=utilities. Get version 1.9D, not 2.0.0.

I have tried Fraps before. It lagged the game like hell so the movie looked rubbish.

Anything else please?

You can't start two threads about the same problem. Now the mods will come and beat you up with a large, purple and possibly furry stick.

I thnk he manes that the answer is already on this forum.. but anyway
The easist way is to buy (You can also d**nl**d it from P2* software.. does censoring that make it okay? :P) FRAPS v2 and use that.
If you have 2 pcs, one with a TV out function on the graphics card, one with a TV card, you can use a cable to connect the TV-out to the TV card, and record on the second PC with something like Adobe Preimer or any other TV card realted software.. I recoomned S-Video cable, as most recent gfx card have this for output, and almost all TV cards have this on the in thing..

That way there is NO perfromance drop, which is very good.. FRAPs is good, but halfs FPS on this computer (While using it to a second harddrive), on the same harddrive it's lower.. This PC is 2.8GHz, 512mb ram, SATA 120GB harddrive (The other is 80GB something or other), GeForce FX5600. I can record with FRAPs v2 with around 15 to 20 FPS (Runs over 15 of that Battlefields misison that comes with OFP Goty, and posisbly others..).
You can guess how horirble it is to use on slower computers.. Games are not playable on 2 to 3 FPS.. :P

if you need anymore help.. ermm.. Hm, post with more info, any problems etc

You just asked this the other day! What you are saying is that you are much more important than any other on this forum and that your questions should allways go first. Do you really think that's fair? The least you could do is obey the rules right?

..let's not start, shall we?
I see his point, you won't find a post on page 120 of a thread once it goes onto page 121. but if the question is valid, it will be answered. I normaly read the last 3 pages of long threads..
But asking something that's already been answered pointless..

Anyway, I hope I answered you question.. If so solve the thread

One method that several people have used while recording lag-free videos is to use a video card that supports a video-out connection, such as S-Video or TV-out. They then connect it to a standard VCR or even another computer for digital recording. This method will allow real-time recording with zero lag. It will also record sound as well.

If you have a video card that supports video in/out, then you can do the same thing. Just need a VCR to record it on, and then later just upload the video back to your computer. If you happen to have 2 computers, you can just send it to PC#2 for digital recording. But option #2 is not as likely, as not many people will have two computers available.

Nope. I am not the more important person here. Just trying to get a bigger range of answers.

Nevertheless, the rules apply to everyone, one question or problem = 1 topic in the forums.

If the topic is on the wrong board then you can ask a moderator to move it to the correct one.
