what the hell is DX8, when i instlal some add-ons i get a message when i start up saying "DX8 required", what the hell is that, and why does it happen to some and not others, i dont get it, please help me

The message "DX8 required" is natures way of telling you that you need at least version 8 of DirectX.

Maybe you do have version 8, maybe you have version 9.0b, but that is what the message is referring to.

Check your DirectX anyway, just to be sure.

It may just be fault addons, we don't have much info to go on.

Having said all that........This is an editing site, you should really take this problem to the Official Forums ........ Troubleshooting Board.
