Multiplayer help
« on: 12 Aug 2003, 19:54:26 »
Hey Anmac you sure you guys don't need any help with the Multiplayer map reviews?  Artak needs some help, or so it seems to me.

Cmon urr gonna give the poor guy a heart artak
lol

Anyway U guys see my [RN] tag.

We have a 3.0 MHz server on Tuesday (tommorow),
so you already know you will have no problem with MP reviews because it's a top-line server for big MP games.
(mostly so we can play CTI without scavenging for other servers)

Just a suggestion...

Cmon Sui, lock this topic too  :P

Anyway like I said, just a suggestion...

It's not all about the MHz's, it's about the wideness of the pipe  :D

Indeed we're slow on the mp reviews. The reason is simple: It's just me and some of my mates doing them.

The best I can offer you at the moment is to randomly idle at  quakenet ircchannel  #ofpec  or  #ofptf  so when we'll start reviewing you'll be there to play with us.  ::)

If Anmac said that then why did you even start this thread? He is the missions depot administrator you know.  ;)

Anyhow, the current system works like this:

- I download the missions to be reviewed and set up a game

- I inform my trusted friends that a mission is to be reviewed, what addons are needed and at what time the game starts.

- We play the mission as long as we think we're satisfied.

- My friends give me their views about it and together with my notes I'll form the final review.

The system works fine as it is (slow but good). However, with ctf and other side versus side missions we could use a couple of extra players sometimes. Or at least spare players incase I don't get enough of my mates together before the reviewing starts.

What causes the slowness is mostly getting in contact with all the players and informing them about the addons and stuff, if I'd have a few spare bodies idling somewhere in the deep corners of irc, it could be a bit faster (maybe).  :-\ :)

Wait a sec,

I though we had this set up now so non-OFPEC personal could download pending missions... review them... and post comments on how it was till we gave it an official review?

Indeed! A very good point Iwesshome!

OFPEC members can review the missions at their own will. Though they can't make an actual review, they can post their reviews as comments.
This benefits both, the staff and the members. Staff reviewers can get pointers from the review made by a member and other people who want to download it as a pending mission can see a bit more what it's about and was it any good.

The comment reviewing also works on the single player side as well, but that's not what's lagging, it's the MP missions that are behind schedule.
Not all is lost.

Cmon Sui, lock this topic too  :P

I suggest that in future you be more careful with what you post, SpecOp9.
You're already on thin ice, so now is not the time to start stamping your feet...

If you keep up that sort of attitude towards Sui doing his job (and doing it well), then I won't have any hesitation taking it further than just locking the thread.

Hmm...

I'm all for someone politely questioning my actions, but it's when people start IM'ing abuse that I draw the line.

Good bye, Spec Op ::)

He wasn't banned for trying to help, he was banned for sending abuse messages.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play
