How can I make a soldier hold fire (through a script)?

Hi! ways are many but you need t oset his combat mode.

UnitName SetCombatMode "Mode"

"BLUE"=Never Fire
"GREEN"=Hold Fire
"WHITE"=Hold Fire, Engage At Will
"YELLOW"=Open Fire
"RED"=Open Fire, Engage At Will

Put this into a wp's or a trigger's on activation field and there you go (or in a script)  ;)
