[Solved]Shooting through objects?
« on: 01 Jun 2005, 21:56:53 »
I have created a pretty nice looking trench in O2 (Picture below), Now I have made a geometry Lod, Paths and a roadway Lod which all work, but i can shoot clean through it, i have looked back on some old tutorials but havnt foundanything which tells me how to deal with this?, can anyone tell me how to Make the object solid for bullet fire? i have a feeling its somthing to do with the Hit points Lod or maybe the land contact Lod but im not Certain.

Thanks,
       Khublai. :)

I think you need a Fire Geometry LOD as well.

This is used to check if the model is hit by fire.
Without it bullets just pass through the model.

Edit: Mind you I always thought the Geometry LOD was used in the abscence of a Fire Geometry LOD.

i made a  fire geomotry LOD by duplicating my geomitry LOD, it dosnt seem to have made any difference.  :-[

I would check that your geometry LOD is correct and has its list of components.

Make sure there are no "openings" in the fire geo lod, do this by selecting
structure - topology - find non closed

Also, make sure there are no concave parts to your fire geo, do this by selecting

structure - convexity - find non convexities

To fix the convexity issue, select

structure - convexity - component convex hull

Thanks alot to all of you, now I have my Trench working Perfectly   ;D :D

i got it to work by going to the Fire geomotry LOD and did

structure - convexity - find non convexities
structure - convexity - component convex hull
i had also not done the comonents right  ::)

heres a picture of the final product a full working trench:

looks good but i though in O2 you can decide where the object is going to sit like on ground level or through the fround by placing the object under the line on the top left pannel so caoultn you then make a trench in the ground

also since yuve fixed the problem use the solve button

i wish flashpoint was that easy, but its not, If you put it underground it will put it below ground but will have the ground on the island you are playing on half way through it. D:
