3rd view (simple)
« on: 30 Mar 2005, 00:43:23 »
Ok this is a very simple question however I cannot find the answer how does one disable 3rd person view for a player Without Just changing it in options.
So that the player can only be in internal view.
Now I know you could just do this switchcamera "Internal" in a loop however that would cause some lag when I believe there is a better way.

You can now slap me with the newb sticker.
-Thanks!
I like your approach, lets see your departure.

I don't think you can
When you use switchcamera "internal" in loop you are not able to use your gunsight either.

Search or search or search before you ask.

This is not mission editing:  it is changing the game.

Essentially it can't be done.     If you use the forum search function and hunt persistently you will find various workaround proposals.    I doubt any of them are very satisfactory.     This view exists to provide some compensation for the lack of peripheral vision, so don't do away with it lightly.

I suggest that you design your mission in such a way that either it discourages the player from using 3rd person view, or it doesn't matter if he does.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Hmm I swore I saw some mission disabling 3rd view...
However this may be simply because it was in multiplayer and I was on veteran...
too bad...

Ok well then is it possible Too check if the player is in external mode?
Ie:
?(Camera == "External"):stuff
?

It can be done. I don't know how though. I remember a MP group I played with made maps that were 1st person view only without modding the options or the game itself.  :P

That's cause the server had switched of 3rd person, not the mission. ;)

Just out of curiosity, why you wanna disable it? Like Macca said, remove it carefully. I, for example, can't drive for two cents without 3rd person.

couldnt you do it like how people stop you using 4x speed
have a script seeing if your in 3rd person then use internal but you might not be able to use the optics

If you head to the editors department and search for Viewport Detection by vektorboson this may help you in some way.
