SummaryBe sure to prepare yourself for this one, GI! If you're a REMF*, don't expect this to be easy. You're in for a hard fight for the control of Dak To. Fight alongside your platoon, take the city, and make Westmoreland proud! * Rear Echelon Mo-Fo. One who has no frontline or combat experience, and therefore makes huge errors at the expense of human life. |

Review by TygerOverviewThe Overview was excellent. The picture was nice, and there was a good overview text. IntroAn excellent intro. Some of the camera shots were bouncy when following walking soldiers but other than that it was well done. There could have been more elaboration on the executed US Special Forces soldiers, but I did pickup on it during the briefing when you mentioned that the recon team hasn't responded. BriefingThe Briefing was well laid out, and everything was in order; the Situation, Intel, and Execution pages were also very informative. The only problem I had was why the platoons were all detached. There would be command problems if that really happened. MissionThis mission, while quite un-original in mission type, had plenty of frills to make it superb. At the start, you can select the skill of your own soldiers and the skill of the enemy. Also, there was plenty of radio and voice in the mission. The assault was fairly easy, but Hawkins created some NVA bunkers with machine guns or RPK riflemen in them. One of them gave me a devilishly hard time trying to take it out. The mission was flawless, and the added Napalm effects were cool. For only 5kb, the napalm was worth it. Outro(s)The Outro had less to do with the mission, but it was good nonetheless. There was more voice in the outro, unlike the average mission. It was also humorous. The M16A1s are so inaccurate that the running NVA soldier reached the American before he was killed. SpecialHawkins included plenty of voice, radio, and custom music to the mission to make it very attractive, as well as fire effects for Napalm that looked spectacular. Overall(Review Date: Nov 2005) This was a well made mission. It was definitely worth the slightly short playing time of twenty minutes, but its replay value is excellent. It's also adaptable to the player's abilities. |
