Review by MachoManOverviewPractice makes perfect, this is the way an overview should be. A short description and a picture with a border. IntroThe Intro just shows you briefing your men; it has lip files, sound files, etc. They are however all from the original campaign. It is short, but functional. BriefingThe Briefing was good; short, clear, BIS style. Too bad there was no long version for the over-interested, but as a part of a campaign it would surely do. (Quoting Rado1265: "MachoMan, what are you talking about? There is a Detailed Plans section. What do you want, a novel?" ) Markers are placed where they should; everything is very clear. Weapon selection is available. MissionYou start at the resistance base and you head out to ambush a convoy. It is basically a remake of the BIS mission “Ambush” in the Resistance campaign, so your mission is the same. You need to find some weapons or you’re not going to win this war. So you head off to ambush a convoy at another location than in the original mission. You have plenty of mines, but unfortunately only one satchel charge. The mines won’t detonate on trucks; they only work on tanks, so your single satchel charge is your only shot. Thank God you have a sniper and a couple of MG-gunners with you. So you wait for the convoy at the marked location, blow up the first car, kill some Russians, kill the reinforcements, that’s it! All is done at the designated location. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Well forget about it! The mission will take multiple tries, as you lose whenever any of the trucks escape. The ammo trucks have a will of their own, when given the chance they will continue along the road towards their objective while you deuce it out with the infantry and their reinforcements (save your RPG for them). Still it is not a very long mission and after a couple of tries you will manage to break it. You win by killing all units in the area. Outro(s)Technically this mission has no outro. There are however short cutscenes integrated into the mission, which coincide with the ending, but there is no skipping! So we basically have both a win and a lose outro. SpecialTo be honest there wasn’t anything special about this mission, except perhaps that it is technically flawless. A few custom sounds also seem to be included. Overall(Review Version 1.1, Date: May 2005) Overall a nice mission, even after having to replay it a couple of times it won’t get boring. Technically it is flawless. A sweeter briefing and more depth could have made this mission extremely good. |
