Review by SaOkOverviewThe overview picture looks good but with the included text part, it portrays the mission outcome rather than the actual mission. IntroThe intro offers a very short but decent base for the mission with an atmospheric representation of the event that led to this operation. BriefingThe briefing is well written, concise and gives nice background and other necessary information for the mission which makes it almost perfect. The markers do a great job in organizing the tasks ahead and are clear and uncluttered on the map. There is no option to choose gear and the player MissionThe players' group is inserted into the area of operation via helo but far enough away from the objective to induce cautious overland foot travel. Bad weather and low visibility, gives a peaceful feeling during the approach, but there can still be some serious trouble to face if concentration is lost. When the target village is finally in sight, the player will have several infiltration styles to choose from depending on his/her patience and skill levels but sooner or later the hostiles are alarmed and the rest of the mission becomes challenging infantry action which hopefully ends with a nice chopper ride back home. Outro(s)There is no outro, which leaves the player unrewarded. SpecialThere are no unique features offered with the exception of the customized volumetric fog which accentuates the bad weather quite nicely. The mission requires ACE2 mod to play which adds its own game balance and features to the mission - Including an advanced wounding system and more talkative AI. OverallAn atmospheric mission with some nice moments and balanced gameplay but fails to deliver a solid story element that is complimented by cinema and side chats. However, it is successful in offering good, simple, OFP style action though and worth a play. |

Overview:
The picture is from the beginning of the mission and description is meant to give an idea of the team's goal.
Briefing:
All the loadouts are 100% custom to the mission, I chose not to add gear options to the briefing, but they're definitely not the stock loadouts. I chose equipment that would suit each member's role with the ideas that that was what they were issued. As for the identity, all units have custom face identities set using setFace. setIdentity breaks ACE gear functions such as earplugs (which would be highly frustrating for the player).
Outro:
Personally, I prefer to feel like the mission is completed by my actions in game, rather than having to sit through a cutscene of a flying helicopter, but I can understand there are different tastes.
Special:
I'm not sure what unique features you were looking for. There are customized patrols scripts, individualized gear, event handlers that check for gun fire and several other things that I included. Numerous modules were used (some unique to ACE) and medical gear was added to every unit. There are custom group IDs and random enemy counts. Also for MP (not part of the review I know) there is a special spectator system. Had I known there was some special feature that was needed I could have added it beforehand.
Overall:
The last thing I want to do is interrupt gameplay with a cutscene, it's not Metal Gear Solid 4 after all ;)
The story is meant to be rather basic, and there are some conversations. However there is only so much one can cover in a ~40 minute mission meant for SP and Coop.
Again, thanks the feedback and mission review.
