Overall

(Review Date: May 2003) First, I want to apologize to Walker that it took this long to review his mission, but, as he writes in the summary, it also takes some time to play this mission. Some words about the CoC: The Chain of Command uses an Engine which allows you to control several squads in the OFP Engine. So your role is not a soldier or squad leader like in the normal OFP missions, instead you command a whole company or even bigger force.

The objective for this mission is to defend south Everon against a combined enemy attack force (armor and infantry).

Between a one page Overview with good explanation and a detailed briefing, you can enjoy the attack of the eastern forces on your army. The intro is well prepared and gives you a good understanding of the scale of battle you are involved in.

Well, it is really hard work because the enemy has your force outnumbered and you have to use every advantage you can find. The new command engine is quite easy to control and even people who were always afraid of the CoC because of the bulky interface (like me) should give it a try. With the new Dialog and Interface functions it is quite easy to handle and after 10 minutes you are involved in the battle. It makes it quite fun to watch the battle between your units and the enemy. Lose it and retry a different strategy.

Pros:
- Good command engine.
- Realistic Mission.
- Good Officer in Charge feeling.
- No special AddOns needed (except the quite common Marker Addon).

Cons:
- Long and hard mission (not really a con, but do not start it in the lunch break).

Conclusion:
Officer candidates and tabletop strategy people add two points to Overall score (yes, it is a nine!).
Unreal II players subtract two points from the Overall score and give it a try, maybe there are other tactical options than a sniper rifle or shotgun.
