Overview

The Overview has a good pic and all relevant details. A bit messily spaced at one point but other than that, fine.

Intro

The Intro is well scripted with some nice camera work, however it all seems hauntingly familiar.

Briefing

The Briefing is extensive with perhaps a little too much info, remember more is not always better. All relevant links do work. The map looks a little cluttered with all the troops movement, but that's just my personal opinion. The briefing also includes "satellite overfly pics" which add a nice touch and show care to detail has been adhered to throughout.

Mission

Ok, on to the mission itself. The flight in is enhanced by some very nice flak effects. This fills in and almost covers the lengthy flight to the target. One slight criticism here: I would think if my chopper flight was under fire they would tend to fly in at wavetop height after the first shots were fired. One chopper gets shot down (another familiarity) and then your guys move to the drop area and exit the chopper.

The run to the Airbase is long and relatively uneventful, with only a small guard position to contend with early in the run and a last minute surprise just as you arrive at the first rendezvous point.

Once you arrive, you get briefed and told to bed down till your turn on watch. A small counter-attack from the Russians at this point and then it's on to the airbase.

Overall

(Review Date: May 2002) This is a very nice mission, well crafted and with the same attention to detail throughout. The only thing I might have a gripe about is the counter-attacks by Russian forces (at more than one place in the mission) could have been a little harder to repel. A good blend of different styles of play with assault and defense playing a part in the mission, with well executed cutscenes and an ambitious end scene make for a worthwhile download.
