Summary

There is a small enemy encampment on Malden. You and your squad must go in and take it out. Watch for incoming convoys and armor sent from a nearby town.

Overview

The overview for the mission is ok. Really nothing special, it told you what was going to happen. And it also included a pic :)

Intro

I start it to be greeted by an intro. It is short but to the point. Showing a Spec Ops soldier running around and spotting a camp. While watching the camp with binoculars you get a voice of someone from the campaign, and it fits perfectly into the scenario.

Mission

The mission starts. A cutscene plays showing me and squad on a chopper taking off and heading for our destination. After that is done, we are landed and disembark. We all start heading to the camp. On the way we are met by a small patrol, nothing a few well placed bullets can't take care of.

We reach the camp, I hear "Contact" over the radio. Also, let me get this out of the way instead of telling you everytime it happens. The mission has plenty of campaign voices throughout it all, and they all fit perfectly into the situation. Very well done, Intruder. The mission is pure slaughter for both sides. By the time all the forces are done, I have taken control of my squad and there are only two people left in it.

Time for the convoy. Mines are placed already by other forces. I grab an RPG off a dead Russian. I only had two RPGs and didn't know what I was gonna see in the convoy. To my despair I see a couple of tanks and some BMPs. Thankfully, most are taken out by the mines. And I take out those remaining with the rocket launcher. I have to hold the area now. I see a full ruskie squad heading my way a little bit after, I take them out. I set up shop behind a bush and take out the entire squad one by one (Damn i'm good :) ) I still have to make sure everyone is dead though. So, I sweep the area a few times and find a few Russians scattered about. Once the last one is blasted, the mission ends.

Outro(s)

After the debrief screen, I get an outro. This kind of puzzled me, though. It seemed more like an intro than an outro. Maybe it was just because it was longer, oh well.

Overall

(Review Date: Jan 2002) Overall, this mission is very well done. One of the few quality missions. He took the tedious task of making everything look good and in place. There really isn't one thing that stands out from the other. It is the mission as a whole that makes it good. Everything put together is the best part. This mission is enjoyable, and difficult. The implementation of the campaign sounds was very well done. Not much scripting going on in this mission, but that does not hurt it. I do recommend this mission for download. It is quality with some quantity. This is one I will play a few times to try and perfect my skills. I give this mission a 7.5 AND .... I also dub this mission "Command HQ Approved". Good job, Intruder.
