The lobby has the time of day settings from the BAS FrameWork along with the very popular Norrin's Revive settings. This allows you to play the mission at the time of day of your choosing and have the flexibility of playing with less lives; adding difficulty.
There are no weapons to be had during the progression from lobby to the briefing screen, not to worry though, once you're in-game there are some ammo boxes with all the weapons and ammo you will need.
You are assigned five objectives to complete. The information is scattered around the briefing but after clicking around a bit, you get an idea of what lies ahead. Cleaning up the information here would have really polished off the briefing.
Images have been included but the quality is poor on some of the images. Having different sized pictures took away from the overall organization.
The author starts you out at a small base on a remote island. There is plenty of weapons and ammo at hand and you have a bunch of zodiac boats for transport.
You need to jump into a boat and head to the bigger island. Check the map along the way, you can attack any of the objectives from various insertion points around the island. You don't necessarily have to hit the targets head on!
You have at your disposal a couple of radio calls. If needed you can use the call ammo script, it drops an ammo box at the feet of the leader of the group, so make sure you are near the leader when you call for it! You can also call for an artillery drop, but we had limited luck with this.
The author is mixing up Norrins revive script with Keygetys spectating script, this turns out to be a really sweet combination, especially if you are a fairly decent player playing with someone who is just new to the game.
Drug Island Invasion doesn't have an outro per se, but you're entertained by a "Well Done!" message and some flares shooting off in different colors.
There isn't a whole lot special about this mission, but the author invested a lot of time in developing custom scripts for specific tasks in Goon Island. He also used a few canned scripts for respawn/revive. Perhaps one of the high points of the mission is Goon keeps you busy with a multitude of fairly simple objectives combined with fire fights between you and the East and the civies.
Drug Invasion is the perfect scenario for the beginner type player to Armed Assault. You can progressively make the mission harder by switching the revive/respawn settings in the lobby. Veteran players may find this mission fairly easy. With two players we could consistently beat the mission with 10 revives in about 1.5 hours. When we added the third player the time dropped down to 40 minutes. The mission itself has 15 playable slots which seems like a bit of an overkill when we found it quite easy with just 3 players. All in all the mission wasn't too bad we enjoyed playing it, and every once in a while we came back to give it another go.
On a side note, the original mission came with an old version of Norrins Revive script, which caused the player to swim occasionally after revive. I felt the mission was worth saving, so I replaced that version with the most recent version of Norrins respawn scripts which fixed this issue. The mission was thoroughly tested and reviewed after this update.
