Summary

As leader of a small team of US Green Berets, you have been trying to locate key Taliban military leaders with the assistance of the local freedom fighters. Currently, you are working with The Baglhan Foxes, a group of battle-hardened Mujahideen well known for their hit and run tactics. (Early version on Desert island).

Overview

Devilchaser is back, and makes his usual big entrance. This latest SP map is very nice. As the leader of a small US Spec Ops force, assist local Northern Alliance troops in assualting 2 Taliban bases. The map starts with a nice Overview, including a good picture. Nicely written, without overloading you.

Intro

The Intro is simply excellent. The only problem i can see with it is the lack of voices. However, this is a minor thing. The music is very well chosen, comlplementing the mission well. The cutscenes are equally top-notch. The cutscene of the "standoff" is simply excellent.

Briefing

The Briefing is the meat of the information. Full of information, for what is a relatively simple mission. The briefing includes orders, objectives, overview, and history of the conflict.

Mission

OK, now that I've praised the map to the moon, time for the bad things. The lack of voices is one thing. At 11 meg for a single mission, this is a very big map. IMNSHO dropping the quality of the music and including voices would make this map one of the best. However, it can be hard to find people with arabic accents. The weapon choices available are another issue. Whilst I can see that the AKs would be locally available and plentiful, you'd have to assume Spec Ops would have their own weapons.

Outro(s)

An Outro would also have been nice. As it is, this mission ends kinda suddenly, leaving a slightly dis-satisfied feeling.

Overall

Overall though, this map is a hell of a mission. Well worth downloading for the gameplay alone, it's also a practical demonstration of what good cinematics should be. Very, very nice.

Edit by Walter_E_Kurtz -
This mission requires an Editor Upgrade (originally Gunslinger's, presumably) for a small number of objects to appear. (The intro will stop on either of the errors below, so you will not get to see it unless you recompile the mission.)
Without it, the error is "No Entry 'config.bin/CfgVehicles.AAA311"
With it "Missing addon: EditorUpdate102", but the mission runs as intended - this is unavoidable, without editing the mission.sqm
