There is a working picture with a nice border. The text is just the right length and provides all the appropriate information. My only gripe is that there is no author name on the page.
The text looks pixelated, a better font could have been used to make this look better. The Intro starts off nicely with a good camera angle and some nice environmental sounds. After this scene the camera work deteriorates slightly, the camera moving from object to object seemed slightly unnatural and jerks around in places. The time skip script is used to good effect in this scene, it shows day turning into night. It then shows the Blackhawk carrying you to the island. The camera work, while not amazing certainly sets the scene and gives you an idea on what the mission will be like.
This Briefing is well formatted, all the objectives are on one page which makes it easy to see what's going on. The notes section contains detailed reports explaining the situation, friendly and enemy forces. I feel that the extra information really shows that the author has tried very hard to make the mission have a real feel to it. One thing I would have liked to see would be some pictures with the reports, but this is not essential.
You parachute out of a Blackhawk then move off to clear the first objective. The walk to this objective is pretty spooky with all the environmental sounds added. Patrols can be seen around the base, it is probably best to take these out when you see them or they will shoot you in the back later on. On approaching the first objective you can see it is swarming with enemy soldiers, I think this may have been slightly over the top but it definitely provided a challenge. I couldn't seem to find a safe way to attack so I decided on a head-on assault. I lost one man during this attack.
Bravo team then entered the cleared objective by Blackhawk and moved on to a waiting position before the crossroad. The crossroad was somewhat easier to clear than the first objective, but it was still a challenge as enemy soldiers would mount the machine guns when they spotted you. You can radio Bravo to move on to their next position once this area is cleared.
The third objective is even harder to take, you will have to keep grabbing more ammo to take out all the armour and soldiers. You can call in Bravo to give you a hand once you have cleared some of the enemy troops. Once you have cleared this objective you extract, this all went smoothly and the mission ended.
I was impressed by the way the THobson allowed for irregular events to happen without bringing the mission to a halt. The drop effects added to the destroyed tanks were nice but could have been improved on.
You see your team being extracted then get the usual scene of the destruction you have caused to the enemy base.
(Review Version 2.05 - Date: Oct 2004) From the description THobson gave of his mission I thought it sounded like the same old storyline, I was not wrong. But the unoriginal storyline is made up for by the great gameplay of this mission (despite being a bit hard). One thing that greatly impressed me about this mission was the readme included, it was head and shoulders above most.
* Bug free
* Dynamic to a certain extent
* Challenging yet fun
* Scripts used to good effect
* The readme!
* Camera work not up to scratch
* Ridiculously hard at times
* Same old storyline
Conclusion: An unoriginal storyline but a very well designed mission.
