A Manual For The Modules

Jul

2009

The mysterious Editor Modules are now getting more and more official documentation. The Biki has recently been updated with information on how to use the infamous First Aid Module that came with ArmA2. At the same time a new Multiplayer Framework is presented for advanced scripters.

The Editor Modules let you add ambient life, animals and randomly changing weather to ArmA2 with a single mouse click. There's also artillery support, random battle creation and even a randomized mission generator. Since most of these features were introduced without any documentation, the vast majority of the Community has not been able to use them, but during the past week new informtion about the modules has been entered into Bohemia Interactive's Community Wiki, commonly refered to as the Biki. Amongst the new information is a workaround for the problems caused by the First Aid Module. The workaround is temporary as the bug is already on the fix list for the upcoming 1.03 patch.

A built-in Multiplayer Framework is also now documented in the Biki. It will alledgedly solve many problems with Join in Progress and locality errors in games involving more than one human player, if used correctly. A complete manual for the Editor Modules is yet to be seen, but the new information answers several questions that has been sought by the scripting community since the release of ArmA2. The available documentation of the Editor Modules can be found here. The slowly growing ad hoc manual is mainly aimed at experienced scripters in its current state.
