The long awaited demo release of Arma2 has come. You can download the demo version at the official homepage of the new game. Meanwhile BI Forums are filled with first impressions from users all over the world.
The demo version contains a cut-down version of the full game. It has Single Player and Multiplayer content, as well as a limited Editor. According to Arma2's official homepage the demo "allows you to experience the unique gameplay featured in the full version of Arma2 including multiplayer, as well as samples of the vast amount of vehicles, weapons and units and realistic environment. The demo also contains a part of Chernarus terrain."
The download size of the demo is 2.6 Gb, compared to the full game which weighs in at aproximately 10 Gb of disc space. Judging from that, the demo contains a quarter of the retail version.
According to several user comments in BI Forums the demo version has a more advanced options menu than the current retail version. BI Developer Ohara confirms that the demo gives a hint of what the 1.03 patch will look like. Paying customers can expect a free update within days: "We plan a small hotfix that will update your version to demo build", Ohara says.
