hmm, how to start.. this is a basic querie, which I can probably find within SnYpir's tuts, but I got 2 programs that create displacement maps, which I guess, you convert to a readable .txt for wrpedit to import.

does the stuff wrp reads like this?:

0.0000 0.0000 0.0000
0.0013 0.0000 0.0000
0.0025 0.0000 0.0000

 ???

Programs are:

Terragen
Wilbur

How the data you import into WrpEdit is read depends on how you set up the Import requester.

Specifically the Coordinates (XYZ) of said requester.

If the Num of coord is set at 1, then the Elev. index will be 1.
Which means the elevation values will be found in column 1.

For example:

72.00
66.00
61.00
63.00
56.00
etc.

If the Num of coord is set at 3, then the Elev. index can  be in column 1,2 or 3.

In this example it is in column 3:

182.29 84.67 27.00
183.28 84.67 37.00
184.28 84.67 35.00
185.27 84.67 34.00
186.27 84.67 40.00
etc.

Why is it when I import, a long/lat text file, everything looks good, inc: land, and height colors correct, but when I preview I seen nothing, all i see below me is water, no land, anywhere???

:help: ME!!!!

I think theres 2 answers to that..

1.  You need textures, water always appearas flat to me.  dont worry of the texture is a temporay one its just so you can see what your doing.

2. You might need to 'refresh' the map image

Tried Both, all i get is water, i really wanna get this to work!!, also can you tell me what to put in all the import boxes, my current settings are:

Num. Of coord: 3

Elev Index: 3

Decimal Point Symbol   .  (decimal)

256 width
256 height

and i'm exporting/importing a long/lat text file from Wilbur straight to Wrpeditor.

Help?...

have u set the entire map 2 b flagged as "beach"
cant remember if it works but i think so

i have a similar problem that my entire maps start off with the elevation patterns i gave them in wilbur or wotever and then they jus go completely flat- damn annoyin >:(

o well as we're here mite as well get it all off my chest- i made a map based on everon (so the elevations actually worked) and got a cpp template from the old forum, put in my values etc, pbo'd it all up nicely and it worked in game- only problem was it didnt seem 2 like waypoints (didnt try triggers but it probs didnt like them either ;))

The first thing to do once you get your file into wrpedit is to press the default button on the landscape tab, this will set the map to the minimum and maximum height for your map.

Next you should choose Select All Cells from the Edit Menu, go to the Surfaces Tab and choose a texture, possibly Eden\ps.paa.  Now press the Change button to apply the texture to all cells.

Finally, Select All Cells again, then press the default button on the Landscape Tab.  This will set the flags to the default values for each landscape type.

If you now start the Preview window you should see your terrain.........If not........move the camera up, you may be positioned inside a hill or underground.

You appear to have set up the Import requester correctly btw.

Just a thought, but are you pressing the Set to Pixel button when saving as Lon/Lat Text Mesh (txt) file.  Also put in your minimum and maximum heights in the provided gadgets.

 Not positive but shouldn't that be a 256x257 instead of 256x 256.

no.....definitely 256 X 256 both cells and elevation points.

YUP! :D works!! WEEE, thanks a heap fellas, all it was, was the whole select all cells and set the tags.
