Downloading
« on: 04 Apr 2003, 00:17:47 »
I'm only downloading at 300-400kb from this site, are the downloads limited to this?  Just wondering...

Yes.

We have a bandwidth throttle to avoid the server going for a dive during peak hours.

No offense, but you might want to get some more bandwidth w/ some of the donations you may recieve because 350 bytes / second is pretty disappointing.

Give me a break guys.  They do the best they can and if 350 Kb's a second is the best they can muster than thats good enough for me.  It doesn't matter how fast it goes what matters is that you have this site around so be thankful, be thankful.  It'll pay off ;)

imemyself,

Did you mean to say kilobytes or bytes per second (as per the first posters usage)? :hmm:

- If you meant to say that OFPEC should spend a lot more money (that we don't have) because you were "only" getting 350 kilobytes/sec, then I'll refrain from saying what I want to say, as it would not be appropriate here. :-X

- If you're saying that you're only getting 300 bytes/sec, then we'll certainly look into it to see if its a problem from our end that we can resolve or to check to see if its just a really busy period. :)

Let us know which applies...

I meant bytes per second.  I'd assume that's what the 1st person meant too, because I have a cable modem, and even for that 400 kilobytes per second is fast.

*cough*

Infact I'm having the same problems.. I've got 521/521 ADSL and I'm downloading at 300-600 BYTES / second.

Just finished downloading a mission to review, didn't take me no more than 4 hours to get it   ::) ;D

I made an upgrade to the server earlier this week and something was fux0red with the bandwidth model. This has now been fixed and it should now allow around 20-40k/s depending on workload.

And the donations will also go for hardwareupgrades so we can have more bandwidth in the future.
