the m24 is also a heavily modified m21, but the upper receiver lacks a gas piston.  it is bolt operated.

Aint the M24 build over the Remington 700 or something? excuse moir if Im wrong...

Yeah I thought the M24 was based off of the civilian Remington 700.  The M21 is indeed an accurized M14 with glass embedded stock, floating barrel and a scope.  The barrel is carefully selected for accuracy and only match grade ammuntion is used.  Snipers often hand select their ammunition and even trim the bullets with a knife, polishing them to get a better flight profile.  UCE made an M21 with a walnut stock, take that and switch the sights to a red dot and you have your wish. ;)

Oh by the way the civilian version of the M14 is the Springfield M1A1 and you can obtain one for around $1000 to $1400 U.S.  The accurized version is the M1A1 Super National Match Rifle and sells for around $2000 to $2500 U.S.  Both of these are nices pieces to own and extremely fun to shoot.

umm...eh'hum...What he is refering to is an M21 with an Aimpoint site.

Yes,...an M21 is an accurized M14 (match barrel/trigger/bedding)
Randy Shuggart carried one,...

and yes,...an M24 is a Remington 700 action.

Errrrmm... Thanks for all the info guys, but could someone please make one? Try using Eviscerators idea. It sounds pretty easy. (i don't have the software to do it, though.)
PLEASE!

More info on the M14 and all that.

I would have to agree with the people who objected against a red dot sight on a rifle. Why would you need a short-range sight for a long range weapon?

I would imagine he wants to depict Delta sniper Randy Shuggart,...who carried one with an Aimpoint site.
He is not the only one to deploy an Aimpoint on a sniper rifle, they are EXCELLENT sites,...and the M14/M21 is Absolutely deployable as a short/medium/long range rifle.
Shuggart carried one into Bakara Market (which was an urban warfare setting, "close, and medium range") because he preferred the stopping power of the 7.62 Nato round, over the 5.56 round.

Personally, I would LOVE to see someone make some good models of rifles with Aimpoint sites (the M16/M4, and the M21 at the least)

There is an M4 out there somewhere with an aimpoint sight, I used to have it once.  Don't know if I still do (scratches head?) but I will look.  Be a nice addition to the M4 pack though.

I'm just wondering, no intention of starting anything here, but I'm curious - where did you get the info that he carried an Aimpoint?  I know it may very well be trivial stuff, but I own the book BHD and saw no mention of that in there.
