Predator drones would be nice for anyone doing modern day missions, particularly those in Afghanistan.

very possible - but they would never be remote controled - you would have to have a pilot in them, but u dont have to see him - and you could remove the eject option for the AI so if he gets shot then he wont jump out (and obviously give the game away)

easy to model (since there is no cockpit) and when i get O2, i mite give it a go - if no1 else has

modeling is easy enuff - i will make a start on it in milkshape and then move it across to O2 when i get it...

its just trying to simulate its radar and image capabilities - a simpe, script would do it - every unit the UAV knowsabout then u make the player knowabout as well...

i'll get started..

Very cool.  Even if it turns out to be eyecandy, just flying over the battlefield, it would still be an extremely cool addon.  You could use it in cutscenes in conjunction with the satellite script.

hmmm - it would be brilliant for a cutscene - but because it has to be aunit then i think the script is easy tom implement - all the infro from the UAV goes to the player

why not try working the reveal syntax into the cpp but set it up so it will reveal any unit not on it's side.

would it be easier if the units just show up on your map.  that would be damn nice to have. i seen a script that gave us something like a satalite view you could have that as well

well im not a big .cpp guru - but if it is possible to add that in so every unit the UAV can see is then identified on the map for every other unit, then that of course would be cool - great for MP

What about another type of unmanned Surveilence aircraft, for the life of me though I cannot find it or remember its name.
But Its shaped somewhat like donut with two counter rotating propeler blades iside the donut shaped part, and a camera ontop, and would operate like a chopper.

I know its real as I've seen it on army technology programs on TV.

The Cyphers in MGS2 were based on those UAVs, so no wonder they look alike ;)
I don't think there are any gun platforms of the real version though, like there is in MGS2.

What do you mean?
The Cypher's were based on the real life version. The development team said so themselves.

I figured this one would fly like a chopper, you'd be able to see it better and all, and since it does have a camera on top, could be used for recon. Or like they said higher up in this thread.

Hey, there are a lot of security and spy cam threads, or were over at the old forum anyway. Couldn't the two ideas be joined together?
Create this unit which is controlled by the player, then have an action that puts you in camera mode. You can survey the enemy's forces and blahblah.
But you have to make it so that the enemy shoots back at the UAV.

*sigh*

i meant that i thought the REAL LIFE ones were still prototypes, so therefore there probably arent ones with guns seeing as the camera UAVs are still in the prototype stage.  ::)

Couldnt someone just make one but have an AI soldier get in it. Use the helmet cam script to see what it sees and send the leader can control the thing with the move command.
