realistic lighting effects

anybody got any tips on ways to make car lights or vehicle lights that blink look more realistic?  I mean really really make them look realistic as far as the .rvmat goes, pac vs paa, colors, faces in the model, using the create light scripts i.e.

 i have been making a vista bar for some blokes on loki teamspeak, i can relay the info here if your still wanting any ideas .

 had a few clips from a tute vehicle i made on the old vista bar with rotating lights, wouldnt take much ,to change it to an ew LED one .
