also why is post counting disabled?

We found that post counting led to people making unneccessary posts.   When it was disabled (when we got a new forum in the Refit of the summer of 02) there was a marked improvement in the quality of the forum - far fewer rubbishy posts.

However, in not displaying post count there is a loss of information.   The star system is an attempt to remedy that with better information.
