Cold War (If it was the other way around)
« on: 04 Jun 2005, 04:27:49 »
Thinking, but what if the Russians decided to prevent the US from going to West Berlin?  What if the US did help the Bay of Pigs Invasion?  What if the US had to invade Cuba to take out the nukes?  Just suggestions.

We probably would have gone anyway and kicked their ass

Then Fidel Castro would be in the same boat Saddam Hussein is in

We would have lost a hell of a lot of men.  I heard Cuba had short range tactical nukes they were ready to launch at the beaches if we invaded.

Interesting ideas, though.  I like the last two ideas best.

Student Pilot, let's not open pandora's box, shall we?

That means we're not gonna discuss the outcome of those conflicts with flaming one-liners, doing so will only lead to the closing of this topic.

I'm sorry MachoMan.  I didn't mean for anyone to get offended by my comments

EDIT:
Here are two suggestions I have for missions:
In keeping with idea two:
The player could be a CAS pilot flying the A10 against enemy targets in support of the rebels

In keeping with idea three:
The player could lead a black operation against the tactical nukes and eliminate them from a certain portion of beach, giving the american landing a chance to survive

I like WW2 stuff.  I would like to see a mission with us dukeing it out againts the CCCP for control of Berlin.  It makes you wonder who would win, cause we had better weapons and tactics but they had so many men.

My opinion on old Castro and Cuba is to leave um alone, but all ideas for a mission are good dude.

uhm, well, if there had been no D-Day the USSR would have taken control of all of europe except Britain and possibly switserland, that is my theory :)

i dont aggree on that because the russians may of lost and forced to surrender if there was no d-day as we took a lot of heat of the russians wich made the war slightly easier for them

Lets be honest, the Germans were winning slowly on the eastern front at that time. Had D-day not occured, hence more time for the Germans, the Germans would have developed a prototype ICBM and ended the war. History profs. say that it was only a matter of time before the Germans developed such a weapon. In-fact, by the end of the war, the Germans were quite close to completing the ICBM project. That might be a nice mission, destroy the German V2 rockets before they blast off.
