setviewdistance vs player's settings...

i just had a panicky moment. i had downloaded an addon about five minutes previously, and then went back to my usual mission editing stuff, and it was ALL CHANGED! i thought the end was nigh, really i did. until suddenly it dawned on me - i had increased the viewdistance in the options about 10 minutes before.

so the question. if i have a setviewdistance command in a script which sets the view distance to around 2000 metres, and the player has her/his viewdistance set to maximum in their game options, will my command over-ride their settings?

EDIT - answered my own question - it does indeed, providing me with an effective way of eliminating drag in certain cutscenes....
