Kegetys' DXDLL v1.0
« on: 13 Jul 2004, 19:23:05 »
Wow, is all that I can say.. Acctualy, I better say something a bit more meaningful, I suppose
If you have a decent grapchics card, DOWNLOAD THIS NOW!
:D

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?s=adc870f60d020e2dbb2e828118428f70;act=ST;f=4;t=40962

And theres a news item on the home page of this site

If you don't know what it does, basicly it adds stuff like water reflections in to OFP ;D
The nightvision motion blur (I'll try and attach the screen shot of it) is pretty amazing too
And it does other stuff, like tightens up the interface writing, shows the frams per second, disable the UI (User interface, ie the ammo count, radio command thing etc), and when you press the Print Screen button, it saves the screenshot to a folder ;D (Which is reaallly usefull :))
All this in a 512KB zip! :D :D

Download it!
- Ben
PS, wow... :P

I'm sure they would be fine with the screens, it's just showing how the thing looks.  Too bad my MX420 can't handle it, the effects look amazing.

Thats fine then :)
They work out at <100KB together, so compared to some of the addons in the depot.. :P

Anyway, my geforce fx 5600, 1GHz, 256MB ram, Windows ME, runs fine (Acctualy it runs better than before I installed this :hmm: No idea why.. Not complaining :P)

Anyone else got a graphics card that works/doesn't..?

Yeah.. I'm only using the water reflections part of it...

and it gives me the alt+tab pointer bug again :P

but other than that i like it .. haven't played MP with it yet so if I take too much of a hit then it might have to be only for screenshots

 I have a Radeon 9200,  Athlon XP 1600+ 1.40 GHz,  512DDR RAM
(plan on getting more RAM next month  ;D )

Try running the config for it and disable post-processing.

Start the game and see if it runs.

Also check the Readme.

This works absolutely fine!!! I love the water reflections and the working NV-goggles...

Btw. How do I toggle the effects on / off? When I launch OFP, it says: "App-H for help". What does "App" mean??

Hi

I have just installed this addon but the reflection isnt working on my GF3 Ti200 - I know it has pixel shader support so the reflections should work. From the official forums I found out changing textures to 512x512 should help but cant try this until i get home now.

Does anyone else have a GF3 who has had a similar problem and if so how did you manage to get it to work short of buying a new graphics card?

Ta.

I've got NIVIDIA GeForce4 MX with 64MB, AMD Athlon XP, Windos XP and Res1.96. When I try using this addon my game just crashes as it begins. The game runs slower if I disable Dir3D HW T&L.....and every other feature of the addon.

Sadly Geforce 4 MX cards don't support pixel-shaders.

This means you cannot use this properly.  Just like me ::)

When you get the DXDLL download and unzip it....or was it rar......never mind.

You end up with a folder called dxdll and a file called d3d8.dll

Just copy/paste both files into your OFP folder.

Then start the game.

btw....the dxdll folder holds the configuration utility for this....you might want to run that beforehand to configure things the way you want.

Cessena Fun.......try ofp.cz

You need to install/extract it so the Dxdll folder is in your OFP root folder,
And that other file.. Thingy, in your OFP Root folder aswell, not in the Dxdll folder.

It works allright with me, just the fact that on Desert Island, as i put postprocessing Off, my FPS is 60.
When i put it on, it's 30!
It goes like this on all the islands, really gets my FPS down and everything is going... slower, as in slowmotion.

Btw, my system specs;

-AMD Athlon XP 2200+ Processor
-ATI Radeon 9250 128 MB Videocard
-512 DDR PC3200 400 Mhz Ram Memory
-Uhm... And i'm running OFP:R

Anyone might got a solution to my "low FPS" problem? I'd apreciate it.

OFP was running slow on my PC with my ATI Radeon 9550. When I downloaded the ATI Catalyst 5.1b(i believe) the speed increased by nearly 200 percent, and it could handle the best settings and still run smoothly.

ATI Catalyst is at www.ati.com (i suppose)

REMEMBER: Do not in anyway click on the OFP configuration exe file, and click auto detect. It makes the game speed half of what i got from Catalyst. Plus i've been trying for weeks to get it back to normals. I guess the effects are irreversable. DAMN BIS!

PS: With catalyst, lower settings in OFP seem to slow down the game. If you put the settings in OFP to full, the game will run much more smoothly

I assume you looked though the advanced settings? If the texture sizes are all huge, it'll slow the computer down
But yeh, updating drivers does help performace, but don't upgrade them if you dont have any problems! I.e dont update them just because theres a new version. Look on the BI Forums for the ammount of driver-related problems made by the new drivers...

Anyway, kinda of topic.. But oh well :P

Any ATI Catalyst merely attaches itself to your current drivers and improves performance/quality
