question about A.I.
« on: 19 Jun 2004, 07:49:36 »
Is there an addon out there that enables the A.I. to fire at farther ranges? Like maybe 500 yards or so,if not would this be a difficult thing to do?

Thanks in advance.

The AI will fire at ranges of 500m.     Snipers and machine gunners in particular.    I've been shot by a sniper at over 1km.

Usually the problem is that the shooting loons don't know that the target loons are there.   Several possibly solutions.  use snipers or blackops in your squad, equipped with ordinary weapons.   These units have (I think) better detection characteristics.     Or give a couple (not all) of the loons in the shooting group binoculars, that might help a little.   Or increase the skill of the shooters.

If you want a scripting solution use a reveal command.

Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

the reveal command is full of bugs though. If the unit normally wouldn't spot the guy he won't do that with the reveal command either.

Yes, use either the M21 or the Dragnov  :)

Once he has a long range weapon, just give him the DoWatch command.

Code: [Select]
Solder01 DoWatch Enemy01
He will know all about the enemy then, but he still has to think it's worth shooting.
