Helmetless Pilots
« on: 15 Sep 2002, 03:38:24 »
Hey all

Just wondering if anyone has made or is planing to make flightsuited pilots with no helmets?

I'd like to produce a mission based around recovering some shot down aircrew from a hostile country. I'd have the pilot sat in a chair being interrogated, I think it'd look really good in a cutscene but he would look stupid still wearing a helmet.

Cheers  ;)

I requested this before, as well.  Also, soldiers with no helmets and gear would be cool.

yeah, this would be a sweet idea, i've seen other threads where people have asked for a whole array of soldiers with/without kit, and this is one that wasn't mentioned.

Nice ;)

There are actually some addons out with soldiers without helmets, but none who have a pilots uniform on. I agree, one is needed. Would love to have one so I could do a good rescue pilot coop or single player mission.

Well the Australian Defense Force has one with a soldier with nothing on his head at all (except hair  :P) and there are a few others. I can't remember which ones though.

i'm finally getting the hang of O2 , so if Flipper ever releases his tool, then i will happily make them - if he releases his tool. ;)

consider west pilot and gunner - helmet underway - keep a look out in the addons: beta testing section

btw, do you want - just no helmet
                           no helmet no parachute
no helmet no 'chute but cap?

I imagine using the pilots in escape and evasion type missions or in hostage situations. They would probably get rid of their
helmet and pack I think.
Anyone else have any views on this?
 ;)

and equip him with just a pistol and some flayers/ smoke grenades because alot of pilots only carry a pistol and it makes me cring to see a A-10 pilot with a M4

(i know some choper pilots carry M4's or MP5K's  but theres no way you could fit a M4 in a A-10 or a atack choper maby a MP5K but probaly not that eather 'specaly in the A-10)

I think you should take off the helmet and the pack but add a leg holster for his gun. I think that would be pretty cool. But I dont know if they have leg holsters for pilots...

Unfortunately, because i'm using the demo p3d, there is no proxy for handguns, there is probably a way of implementing it with O2, i'll ask on the official forums.

So for the time being I will make Pilot with no helmet, no pack, and an mp5

@erfworm, pilots don't, they have a gunholster on their left, at the bottom of the ribcage:

        :)
      (   g) - arms
       I   I - body
        ^   - legs
 g = gunholster

will post a better pic when i get home ;)
