civilian car with gunner
« on: 27 Jan 2004, 17:00:45 »
i just got an idea 10 mins ago, what if you have a car chase mod or addon where you can have civlian cars or other cars that has a driver driving but you can have a gunner position in the car too! There's a regular jeep with MG but what if you could put the gunner position more hidden inside the car and you could see like a beretta or Glock or any other handgun or rifle sticking out through the passenger window and you could have like 50 rounds in the handgun versions and maybe 3 x 30 magazines on the rifle versions. The gunner would be able to rotate the weapon exactly as much as the mark 2 bpr and east Boat gunners can do ( half of a circle )  ;)
a fun thing would be to have a trabant with the BAS minigun on the side being able to totally smash cars and make destructive drive by's  ;D
Well that was some of the stuff i needed to write down if someone would read this and maybe make some cool new civlian vehicles using this i would be very  happy

How about the sports car with a guy sticking out the sunroof and blasting away? :gunman:
The only things hard for those add on makers here I think would be removing the window glass and gunner animations like sticking a gun out te window.... :)
How about two actions, "Window Position" and "Sit in Seat", so your not sticking out the window the whole time.  :o

Frankly I'm hurt that the jeep has the only real car weapon in the game, yet it is so exposed... :'(

Some more cars and trucks like this would make for funner* get aways and escapes.
Only rifles/mg guns and hand guns should be involved cause having a browning .50 caliber in the tranbant, is well, VERY unrealistic.

And for all those africa and BHD missions, make the "technicals"!!! :thumbsup: You know those Toyota pick ups with the big mg guns on the back! ;D

*is "funner" a word?  ???

I was thinking that someone could make a car with a submachinegun pointing out the passenger window for doing driveby shootings.  And you could make a police car with a pistol aiming forward out the passenger side for doing police chases....

i believe BAS has a helo in thier Littlebird pack that had a
MP-5SD mounted on the side. It looked sort of crappy because the gunner did'nt hold it, it sort of floated in air ???

Martin did a Bell Jetranger heli with an M4/M203 sticking out of the sid door, but like BAS's Little birds the gunner didn't actually hold it.

And no, "funner" is not a word.  ;)

can't you make the gunner sit perpendicular to the helo so it looks a little better?

Imagine with those cars you could make all those mafia, car chases, drive bys, and hitman stuff. Opening up another civvi side to OFP. :)

Another skill to master though. Aiming your Ingram at those rival gang members in Nogovo square.... >:(

EDIT: Is there any way to work recoil in there?
THe gun wont be fixed to anything and the gunner "should" be holding it.

Or you could just make a truck bomb. LegaWarz's bomb truck has a self destruct mode. Why kill a ganster when you can blow the whole square?

Or I could script my own car bomb. No exterior stuff. :)

There's a script that allows to put a machine gun on a car / truck :

In init.sqs put :

[Nameofthevehicle,NameoftheMG,height] exec "MGCarry.sqs"

exit

;MGCarry.sqs

_carrier = _this select 0
_cargo    = _this select 1
_height  = _this select 2

endCargoSession = false

goto debug

#carrier

_x = (getPos _carrier) select 0
_y = (getPos _carrier) select 1
_z = ((getPos _carrier) select 2)+_height

_cargo setPos [_x, _y, _z + 0.9 ]
_cargo setDir (getDir _carrier)

~.01

? (!endCargoSession) : goto "carrier"

@ endcargosession
_cargo setpos [_x,(_y)-1.5,0]

exit

Works perfect  ;).

Looks good, but I'd lose the  metal plate "shield" around the gun if I was you, unless it's going to be a real "Mad Max" type car with armor plating welded on and stuff... ;)

That is a good start!:wow: Looks like Nogovo is taking a cues from Mogadishu, Somali and manufacturing it own technicals. :D :P

I like it but its to obvious. I don't want to be demanding but, if you can get an ingram or unsilenced uzi or small compact high firing rate gun in the side window or something, that'd be the solution. The guy doesn't even need a decent animation... :P

Talk about armed civvi convoys. ;D

Nice work.:thumbsup:

That's PERFECT!

Its exactly what I need. And it looks decent too. It must be hard to find a decet anomation for the gunner though... :P

Really good work.:thumbsup:

Weird  ???
Try selecting the points for the gunners axis, and pressing W (Flip the verties)
I guess, either that or the CPP..
