Anyone Winzip?

Does anyone use winzip and know how to zip a folder with my mission stuff in it? I submitted a mission and the readme escaped it and a few scripts might be gone from the zipping process.

Just right click anywhere and create a new zip file (like if you were creating a new folder or something). Then, name the newly created zip file what ever you want. And drag your mission file and any other file you want to add over the zip file and every thing should be done.

You can right click, and add to achive on a file/folder
Then drag others into it

If you don't like Winzip, Winrar is good, as is Zipgenius

Pretty sure it worked. I'll have to look at missions pending to see the results.

Off topic: My winzip is the evaluation version that goes away in 30 days. My evaluation version is on day 197. ;D

i think we all have to step up a bit and use RAR as opposed to ZIP

why cant people make use of the better compression format?

I have nothing against .rar but OFPEC requires .zip so.....

The Addon Depot takes RAR, I'll look at moving the Mission Depot onto RAR as well when I get home.

Is .rar a smaller file in acutuality than .zip?


Anyways I'm pretty sure that the missions depot is all .zip, even if addons are .rar....

heres an example
we can all try this at home

i went into my addon folder and look for a nice big file

BAS_weap.pbo (31.6 MB)

i made one .zip
and one .rar
both on maximum compression

BAS_weap.zip (16.1 MB)
BAS_weap.rar (10.2 MB)

i think we can all agree there is a big difference
well depending on what a file contains may vary in how well it compresses but i have never seen .zip ever beat .rar in my time

so all and all
a much better running OFPec.com
why coz less bandwidth is gonna be used
and depending on OFPecs webhost could save money too (if they charge bandwidth) but this isnt any of my bizness
