Do smoke shells work?

I know they work against humans, but if you  use them for a cover screen against AI soldiers, will they be fooled by it?  ???

 nope....

unless you have JAM... which adds some functionality to smoke shells for AI

 I've tested it myself and it seems to work somewhat well.
