Did you know that a bear's diet is about 70% grass?

And yes, they'd be using unguided RPGs (and RPG7s, another nice addon). But I don't see why I have to download an addon. Though I suppose the AI RPG soldiers won't target choppers.

Accualy... with JAM even the AI targets choppers with RPGs, if they have the right type of ammo... There are 3 types of rocket for each launcher. A normal rocket that AI will only use on armor and other ground vehicles, an AP rocket witch AI will use on peaple (and just about anything else) and an AA rocket where for AI choppers are primary targets... Another great thing is the number of rockets you can carry. All RPG rockets only take up 1 inventory space.

Damn, guess that means that I'm not a bear :(. Oh well, a bear's paws aren't really suited for a keyboard and mouse ;D, which would mean that I wouldn't be able to play OFP :o.

Huh, that was a wasted 2 hours of internet time. I don't really see anything special about this addon. JAM gives the AK74 the wrong ammo as well (5.62mm instead of 7.6mm - I can't remember the exact number so these might not be 100% right). Plus the sounds for the AK are rather quiet. And there's no burst mode. Also, the grenade launchers magically reload themselves; you can even shoot while reloading. I suppose I'd have liked this more if I played the West. The helicopters are okay but really not that special; I also suspect they may be modern. The fast rope insertion and rope ladders are a nice touch, but still... Not worth the wait.

The AK-74 is chambered for 5.45mm, the M-16 is chambered for 5.56mm.

More on topic, the BAS OPFOR pack includes a nice-looking PK on a UAZ, so maybe they have a PK on a tripod. I'll go ask 8).

Drozdov its eaither have 30 grenades that "magicly" reload themselvs or have only 6 normal ones. Since the vest is classified as one magazine you cant reload it, since there is nothing to reload. It does also give you the ability to carry normal ones if you would rather reload after every shot than have more shots...

Back to the machine guns... I have a mounted PK but I dont know where I got it. It fires 100 round mags and uses default PK sounds, but looks unrealistic. I think the best thing thing for you to do is wait for the OPFOR pack.

Ok after playing one of my many JAM missions I took a look at the ammo names. Heres a chart.

M16/M4 - 5.56mm (30 rd)
AK-74/AKS-74U - 5.45x39 (30 rd)
AKM - 7.62x39 (30 rd)
G3/FN FAL - 7.62x51 (20 rd)
PKM - 7.62x54R (200 rd)
M60 - 7.62x51 (200 rd)
SVD - 7.62x54R (10 rd)
Remington 700 - 7.62x51 (5 rd)

And Drozdov, JAM is perfect for East Vs. Res fire fight missions

I stand corrected, the AK74 does use 5.whatever mm ammo. Still, JAM isn't all that impressive. And I never do East vs Res, only Res vs West or East vs West. I do have a mounted PK but it's sight is all wrong. The black mask thing obscures the actual aiming point, if you understand what I mean.

JAM is just perfect for Res in general. Because they steal pretty much everything they have, their equipment is very diverse. JAM allows resistance fighters to carry a big diversity of weapons that have shareable mags. Plus the HD versions can help to make units seem untrained and very inaccurate. The sounds and tracers also make it very cool... especially at night.

I'm beginning to warm to JAM, especially the HD (whatever that stands for) units. Nice prolonged firefights... more realistic in some ways. Otherwise even the units with skill 0 will shoot you in the head from 500 metres in a couple of tries. Nobody's that good.

But back to machine guns. I've tried to work out how to make addons in Oxygen but I don't think I have the patience to learn. If anybody wants to make a PKMS then I have a few pictures and technical specs you could use... just ask me and I'll zip em and upload em.

Yes we all love JAM  ;D and btw HD stands for High Despertion (oh god i cant spell) anyways it means the bullets spread out more and the gun is less accurate (it works best on AI). Well back to the machine guns. I know a little bit about o2 but im not too good, but maybe ill try to make one (probably not but ill give it a try).

If it's a mounted PK you want, then DL Fortress OFP's MG pack.

It also includes AA mg, mounted M60, different variants of the M2 and a 30 cal mg.

Here's the DL link ftp://www.gamezone.cz/ofpd/unofaddons/mgpackres.zip

And there's no burst mode.

Sorry to drag this back onto the JAM topic, but the AK47/74 does NOT have a burst mode in real life, BIs included the burst mode on their AK's to control the AI's ammo useage.

Well, i've just taken a look through all posts in this thread,
and i noticed that you probably still haven't tried out
the NSV 12.7 UTES (correct me if i'm wrong).

I'm not sure, if this one was already in 0.8, but if not
i'd suggest you to examine this one ASAP.

The KORD was also the first one i tried (upon that it's
the first mg you find when scrolling down thru the
menu), but i didn't like the optics it features.

A bit later i thought why not try out the NSV, and then i
got impressed  :o

The NSV has just the ironsight and sounds brilliantly kewl.
AI even starts firing onto apc's.

One of my favourite playing around thingy has becom:

LSR russian federational special forces (player's side)

versus:

a couple of: resistance - JAM/HD
and a few:  empty NSV 12.7 UTES HD + 1 group per gun with a simple getin waypoint onto the gun. This makes 'em remount the gun, after the previous gunner has gone to heaven.

All this put together into some kind of CQB fights, e.g: in
KABUL on jellalabhat island, or in Lippany, or even as an
ambush by resistance on a russian convoy.

So: if you haven't tried it yet, you should

P.S: if it's the caliber you don't like, then sorry but it's the
same as the KORD has.

P.P.S: The guns from ofp.fortress are off course also worth
being tried.
