2 seated A10 or F18
« on: 10 Jul 2003, 20:55:28 »
Is there away to make 2 seated planes and by this I mean, one person gunning and 1 piloting, its hard enough to fly planes on OFP let alone shoot as well. Plus it would be really cool, the F18 Hornet with all of its warnging lights and stuff, two seated. And plus in Co-Op multiplayer missions

A two seater prototype Thunderbolt II was made in the late 70's and was known as the Night Attack/Adverse Weather (NAWs) A-10.  The Air Force tested it for only a few years and ended up rejecting the program in 1982 opting to stick with the single seater version.

NAWs A-10

...and you thought the A-10A was ugly

mmmm that (NAWs) A-10 is sexy
and it would be awesome if someone made some F-18D's or some F/A-18F Superhornets

oh, c'mon - there are already 10.000 US aircraft out by now  ::)

I for my part am happy to see all these new russian addons popping up these weeks  :D
About time we got some ruskin stuff to sort of bring back the balance in OFP.  8)

::) It aint fun to send 12 different special armed NATO/US jets towards an SU25
And the new russian choppers are much welcomed too, me think.

Pennywise and I are finished with the F18 now and I have been drilling away at the Su-34 we are planning next. It is a 2 seater and will pretty much do what you described above. Hopefully I can get a BETA out sometime within the next couple months for you to play around with.

cool, by the way Hudson great work on that Hornet pack. I dunno about the rest of you but I think its cool too do the missions in FPS cos, seeing all the computers and shit, and all the lights flashing just seems so cool, and it'd b better if u didnt have 2 worry about lining up that shilkla and not crashing into that hill at the same time

How about an A-6 Intruder?

It's perfect for the game.

Its varients (A - E) cover the Vietnam era and modern day scenarios.  It has side by side seating, which should be easier to implement.  It's carrier-based.  Designed for low altitude strikes.  Has a payload variety second to no other carrier-based aircraft.  There is even a model used for Air to Air refueling.

The list of positives and possibilities for this aircraft in relation to Flashpoint is unparalleled.

I do have a small problem with all the saftey features on jets being released atm...sure its all well and good being realistic but we have to realise that OFP Air COmbat IS NOT REALISTIC!  dogfighting with guns turns in to who has the tightest turning circle and is damn near impossible to hit anything with at speed...with the flares missiles are useless...its not just a defensive feature the flares and chaffs are a complete missile killer which is pointless....i think they should be manually controlled....so when a missile is locked on it automatically switches you to the chaff weapon which you fire...not the computer.  That would make it harder i think.

Maybe if the flares/chaff only distracted missiles randomly it'd be better. That way, you still have to keep on your toes and evade it, since you might not break the lock with a countermeasure.

Yeah, theres like a 50/50 chance of evading it and if the chaff/flares dont distract it you get another warning then you must fly like crazy

If you find the Intruder, let me know :D

I've only seen people showing pre-alpha modelling shots of the intruder

I'm surprised with all the Vietnam addons (and a Mod to boot!) that one of the most heavily used ground attack planes of the era isn't around - certainly expected to see it before the skyraider :(
