Max users, Dig in! - Cool Plugins

Cedaie here, 2 plugins I've recently come across, you may or may not have heard of them.

first one is for those unwrap UVW users, this plugin simply captures the outline from a model unwrap, and saves it as a .bmp.  Very useful for creating texture templates as mentioned.

get it at the very bottom of this page called Unwrap Util for Max #.#: http://www.max3dstuff.com/max2.html (be sure to check out some other plugins while your there!)

Secondly, one of my favorite modifiers for low poly modelling, known as PolyChop.

PolyChop is a 'poly cutting' modifier much like Optimize, it works in tris, and cuts according to the settings you set.  Settings can include keeping the object border vertices the same, down to protecting the texture coordinates.

polychop can be found here: http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~melax/polychop/plugin/ (includes preview of polychop on a cow model.

Good luck Modelling!

Cedaie.

PS: I'll add more as I find them ;)
