dofire command not working at object: target E?
« on: 08 Jul 2005, 15:55:46 »
Hello,

I have a pair of target (target1, target2 and target3) and I want a east guy not player controlled follow a set of waypoints and fire at these targets using the unitname dofire target1 command.
He follows the waypoints perfectly but he forgets to shoot at the targets.
Any1 who can help me on this one?

Thanks!

Weird, it should work.

Try and (pre)add dotarget command, or apply the command thru trigger(s) or script ...

Maybe dotarget doesn't work on targets.

I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but TargetE is configured as civilian side.

I had this same problem in a mission I am working on.  I finally ended up using invisible tagets and placing them on the targets (actually a little bit in front of the targets).  That worked just fine.  Then, when the target is destroyed move or delete the invisible target (otherwise the soldier will keep shooting and shooting until he is out of ammo).

okay, that might be an idea...
BUt how do I create invisible targets? and let them disappear after a while?

And it must be possible to fire at these targets even if they are civilian. Because I thought that the dofire command overrides every other command like never fire, civilian or his own men...

I did the dotarget command but that didn't help, I even tried to delay the waypoint from activating with 2 seconds...but that didn't work either...
