Muzzle Flash shadow... how to remove

Now this is an odd case. I've noticed everyone's having trouble with muzzle flash shadows. Me being a newbie, I'd be the least suspected one to solve it. NEWay, I think I found a way. In the face properties dialog in o2 (Pressing E) untick the box "Enable Shadow." There ya go: no muzzle flash shadow. Now the next problem: How to get muzzle flashes to not use shading?
